Anyone else feel like bucket lists are kind of bullshit? For one thing, if you are a person who actually creates a list of amazing, interesting, wild, dynamic and unique experiences to have in your life before you die, depending on the length and subject matter in the list, you could be setting yourself up for failure! Disappointment! Who needs that kind of added stress?
Secondly, I feel like what happens, more often than not, is that people do things, whether planned or accidental (OMG I just met _____ celebrity! amazing!), and realize - holy shit, that was really cool! I'm going to "scratch that off my bucket list..." - even though that shit was NOT ON any list to begin with. You may think that's just me being overly particular with order of events, but the way I see it, order matters. You don't have a bucket list, but you claim you're scratching something off of one? That's fraud yo, and I'm not having it.
Also, the term "bucket list" comes from the saying "kicking the bucket". So, basically, as I said, shit you should do before you die. How depressing is that? And think of all the other things we relate buckets to - Cleaning. Hauling things. Puking. Chumming (if you're into shark fishing - actually that sounds cool, but I digress).
How are we relating this to wonderful life experiences again?
No bucket list for me thanks. I'm just gonna go ahead and do cool shit whenever possible.
